Maureen Bogue leads the firm’s Compliance and Investigations Practice Group. She has over 30 years of experience as an employment counselor and litigator. Having previously served as in-house employment counsel for a global company, Ms. Bogue provides strategic and business-oriented advice on complicated employment issues and serves as “back up” in-house employment counsel when needed. She often works with internal or outsourced human resources teams to bring small, growing companies into compliance. She regularly advises employers on issues such as leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, disability accommodation, and performance management. Throughout her career, she has provided training to management employees and executives on topics ranging from harassment prevention, to reasonable accommodations, to managing within the law. She partners with employers to conduct internal human resources and wage and hour self-audits and assists in prioritizing and providing “real world” solutions. She has experience representing federal contractors in the construction and clean energy industries, and works with clients to understand the complexities associated with Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage compliance. Ms. Bogue regularly counsels employers on best practices for hiring, reductions-in-force, and workforce restructuring.
Ms. Bogue has been conducting workplace investigations for 20 years and is often retained to investigate internal complaints asserted against senior members of management, including members of the Human Resources and Legal departments and C-suite executives. She has conducted investigations into claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and unequal pay, as well as investigations into conflicts of interest and employee fraud. She is experienced in conducting “climate assessments,” when an employer is faced with complaints of alleged Company-wide misconduct or a “toxic workplace.”
Ms. Bogue has represented businesses in employment litigation for her entire career and represents employers in litigation matters throughout the state of California. She has significant experience defending employers in wage and hour claims, as well as claims for discrimination, harassment, failure to accommodate, and related employment claims. She also represents employers in EEOC, Labor Commissioner, and EDD audits and in federal, state, and local agency complaints.
Ms. Bogue has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year since 2016.
